We, as Native People, have the obligation to make this World a better place for the next 7 generations!   ~ Neta Rhyne

An award winning director, producer, and writer, Neta Rhyne is a proud enrolled member of the Cherokee Nation, Direct Descendent of the ‘Trail Of Tears’.  Through her Cherokee heritage Neta has a deep rooted connection to the Earth and holds a special bond to the spirit of the horse. Neta founded Thundering Hooves 501(c)3 non-profit organization in 2011 to bring awareness to the many hardships horses face today, and the important role we play in protecting the environment.

Through film, art projects, and special events, Neta is able to bring awareness to the plight of horses; her Award Winning Documentary Films have garnered the attention of audiences all over the world. The Official Trailer to her most recent Documentary Short Film, ‘A Horses' Prayer’, is airing as a Public Service Announcement for the SAFE Act H.R.1661 a Bill in Congress that would protect the Global Food Supply and close our borders to Horse Slaughter.

Today Neta continues to be a tireless advocate for the Horses both Wild and Domestic, and stays active in her mission to help protect and save San Solomon Springs, a series of artesian springs that have flowed for over 11,000 years in the Chihuahuan Desert of West Texas now in danger of disappearing ...forever!

WHAT WE DO

We work closely with schools and diverse communities in developing childrens' art programs and celebrations of the arts events.
To educate on the proper care of animals we invite veterinarians as well as experienced trainers and handlers to participate in our educational events. We also partner with animal welfare investigators to educate participants on how to recognize inhuman treatment of horses and who to contact in the event abuse is witnessed.  Thundering Hooves also produces educational materials which are provided, free of charge, to all participants of events.

An important role in Thundering Hooves events is educating the public on all aspects of rescuing horses, including their aftercare and how to adopt a rescued horse.  Whenever possible we bring in rescued horses and set-up areas where people of all ages can interact directly with a horse.  Nothing connects people to the spirit of the horse like actually being able to touch one.

Music, song and dance are the hub of universal language. Inviting performing artists to be a part of any event creates an exciting celebratory platform that engages audiences to follow along in song and dance honoring the horse. Our featured artists travel great distances to join us for these special events.

Through the medium of film making Thundering Hooves is able to bring awareness to the many issues horses face today while focusing on the beauty and spirit of the horse.  With Thundering Hooves Documentary Film Winning Awards and reaching audiences across the Globe and our latest Documentary Film Project, A HORSES" PRAYER, serving as a PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT, PSA,  to help the Horses, film making has proven to be a successful outreach program.

Ghost
April 22, 2007 - September 20, 2022

In the time of the great warriors of the plains, Ghost, a medicine hat spirit horse with his blue eye and war shield across his chest, would have been revered as having special powers protecting his rider in battle.

Saved from slaughter, Ghost quietly carried the memories of his past,  his medicine remained strong touching the hearts of all who were honored to be in his presence ...reminding us every horse is sacred!
